A.M. Ford Sales Ltd. is looking for a dedicated, experienced and enthusiastic Automotive Dealership Controller with in-house automotive dealership controller preferred responsible for managing the overall financial operations of our 38-year-old well-established Ford dealership located with two locations in the city of Trail right in the heart of the West Kootenays.

JOB DUTIES

The Controller reports directly to the Dealer Principal providing accurate information including analysis, budgeting, forecasting and preparation of financial reports. The Controller will also be responsible for directing and managing the company's accounting functions, including establishing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures as well as the preparation of financial statements and reporting to top management and externally. The Controller will maintain the company's accounting systems and implement changes as required. A.M. Ford Sales Ltd. offers a competitive salary package and an incredible work environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee all accounting activities of the auto dealership and manage the financial reporting processes
  • Integrate and streamline accounting systems and processes including Reynolds & Reynolds, DMS and CRM
  • Consult on business operations fundamentals to recommend areas for improvement
  • Preparation of dealership monthly statement and account reconciliation, and all month end tasks required including uploading statement to manufacturer
  • Prepare a quarterly consolidated statement, Compliance Certificate and Compliance Worksheets
  • Year End – prepare all entries and create a package/binder for audit purposes for outside accounting firm Grant Thornton
  • Review and supervise accounting staff with deal processing & AR/AP functions
  • Human Resources and Bi-weekly payroll processing/hourly/commissions
  • Manage employee benefits
  • Prepare GST/PST/WCB/Payroll/Corporate Tax remittances prior to Grant Thornton filing
  • Bank Reconciliation/Floor Plan Payouts
  • Administration of all new hires packages
  • Other related duties as required or assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Accounting Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
  • Excellent skills and experience in Car Dealership bookkeeping
  • Advanced computer and data analytics skills with proficient use of Excel
  • Familiarity with dealership DMS systems with preference given to knowledge in Reynolds & Reynolds
  • Must maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality
  • Accounting: 3 years (preferred)
