The building operator is responsible for performing assigned duties related to the maintenance and repair of building systems. This is a hands-on position with primary responsibility including, but not limited to: steam, air, nitrogen, water systems, HVAC, plumbing, waste and materials handling, electrical/power generator, housekeeping and property maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive maintenance and repair of equipment where applicable and complete all necessary documentation.
  • Provide backup with review of preventive maintenance records to ensure PMs are performed and documented properly
  • Responsible for and assists in developing preventive maintenance standards and methods for facility systems to ensure PM tasks are completed.
  • Ensuring all building control systems are functioning as specified and the facility is in a well maintained state.
  • Train operators in selected preventive maintenance activities.
  • Assist Quality Assurance in investigating irregularities concerning the preventative maintenance of equipment and facilities systems.
  • Perform documentation reviews to ensure compliance, and maintains all necessary logs and records within the area of responsibility.
  • Provide feedback to Manager, Maintenance to ensure department issues are addressed efficiently.
  • Obtain comparative quotations for required services based on project scope.
  • Coordinate contractor services based on internal Production and facility maintenance requirements.
  • Monitor contractors and supervise on site repairs to ensure jobs are completed safely and properly
  • Responsible for ensuring all steam and H.V.A.C. equipment are operating to set parameters, while meeting the ASME code and BC Boiler Safety authority guidelines
  • Monitor all DDC systems.
  • Perform regular walkthroughs of the property to ensure cleanliness of common areas and parking lots.
  • Understand and comply with applicable city, municipal and federal building, plumbing and electrical codes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

a) A variety of building equipment, including RTU/HVAC systemsb) Company provided hand and power tools

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Maintenance, design and fabrication of electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
  • Electrical and mechanical trouble shooting skills and ability.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, process schematics and technical manuals
  • Knowledgeable of city, municipal and federal codes
  • Intermediate computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Familiar with CMMS/EAM systems
  • Education: Must have Technical Degree or Diploma or in progress (5th Class Power Engineer)
  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing working environment
  • Two (2) years recent related experience
  • Light fabrication skills preferred
