Job description
The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety requires a business analysis to provide systems design, technology planning and client support services to client business units. An understanding of the client’s business processes, legislation and policy directives to provide the necessary support and ongoing management of the systems and applications assigned will essential.
The successful candidate will:
- analyses application systems and business processes to identify operational opportunities of efficiency and effectiveness;
- research service delivery best practices, identify areas for potential improvements and risks to business operations and develop and recommend business solutions to clients and stakeholders;
- participate in joint technology planning sessions with clients;
- identify and document business situations that require technological solutions while estimating costs for system application development and enhancement;
- translate business processes into technical requirements by developing technical specifications for clients and vendors responsible for coding and configuration changes;
- prepare and track contracts and deliverables including controlling project progress and ensuring technical reviews, quality assurance checks, and post-implementation reviews are completed;
- monitor and maintain business systems, ensuring compliance with changes to policies that meet business objectives and operate reliably on a daily basis; and
- organize data collected and applies statistical techniques to develop materials, reports, and/or make recommendations on business solutions.
This position will provide technical and program direction to staff to resolve system/service delivery problems and acts as a liaison between business units, technology teams, support teams and external stakeholders as needed.
Designing and delivering application training to system users, creating procedures manuals, and providing ongoing advice and direction to users to resolve system application problems or issues is a requirement.
To be successful in this position, strong communication skills is essential when troubleshooting, delivering training material or responding to inquiries.
Typically has a degree in business administration, statistics or computer science or equivalent education and experience.
