CLASS 5 JOB DESCRIPTION

Oil City Express is currently recruiting for experienced Class 5 Drivers in
Fort McMurray. The successful candidates will be responsible for delivering freight from our Fort McMurray warehouse to customers in the city as well as delivering to oil sands sites.

The incumbent is responsible and accountable for knowing and working in accordance with the Oil City Express Health and Safety and company policies as well as Commercial Vehicle Regulations. These are permanent full time positions located in Fort McMurray.

Primary Duties / Responsibilities / Skills Required:

- Operating commercial vehicles (typically a 24ft 5 ton van or flat deck)
- Completing daily driver time sheets / logbooks
- Complete and fill out pre trip inspections
- Proper loading and securement of freight - Ensure vehicle is properly equipped and in proper working order daily
- Give proper care to the operation and maintenance of vehicles and equipment
- Follow the scheduled plan for each load and inform your supervisor of any deviations or issues
- Maintain shipping and loading documents, properly signed off with all required info and kept in good order
- Maintain professional and courteous driving habits at all times, driving to conditions
- Be alert to risks and threats in order to prevent incidents and/or losses before they occur
- Must be flexible and work effectively and efficiently in a fast paced environment
- Will need to be physically capable of moving sometimes heavier pallets with a pallet jack

Work and Pay Schedule / Hours:

- Monday to Friday with availability every 2nd Saturday if needed
- Start times daily are typically 8am but you may be asked to start earlier on some days as necessary - Finish times daily are dependent upon freight volumes and other factors and can vary daily between 8 to 12 hours
- Pay periods run two calendar weeks, cutting off on Saturday night reset on
Sunday morning, payday the following Friday

Minimum Qualifying Requirements:

- min 1-3 years direct or related experience in industry preferred but will train if necessary
- clean drivers abstract with no more than 2 demerits
- class 5 licensed with min of 5+ years driving experience
- physically fit
- good work attitude with high focus on customer satisfaction

- attention to detail / paperwork accuracy
- good working knowledge of log books, hours of service, federal NSC regulations
- CSTS and OSSA or BSO/CSO is required (will provide training if necessary)
- Ability to clearly speak, read and write English is required
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
- Drug and Alcohol test will be required on hire
- Must have own smart phone in good working order

Working Condition Considerations:

There are often occasions when the individual may come into contact with dust due to the site’s conditions and with fluids from the vehicles such as windshield washer, coolant and oil. You may also be exposed to loud noises, hot, cold, wet, dry, weather conditions and muddy, slippery, icy ground surfaces. Steel toe boots, hardhat, safety vest, safety glasses required.
