Position Purpose
Development Associate is responsible for the execution of Fraser, Ltd. fundraising initiatives to meet organizational goals and objectives. This position will also participate in developing long-range department and organizational goals.
PLANNING
- Develop, present, participate in and implement development and marketing plans for the organization and the department.
FUNDRAISING
- Build upon and create key relationships to expand the funding base and to ensure the organization’s programs and goals are realized.
- In consultation with the CEO, establish long-range goals and objectives for a strategic development program which enhance organization’s programs.
- Adhere to a fundraising calendar and mailing schedule (appeals, newsletters, etc.).
- Donor cultivation is a primary goal of this position.
- Coordinate and collaborate on special events and fundraising efforts.
PROSPECT RESEARCH
- Research new sources of financial support.
- Identify and cultivate prospective donors, this may be done in cooperation with the CEO and department members.
- Collaborate and develop associations that will foster financial support for Fraser, Ltd.
- Recognize and initiate grant opportunities as assigned which support Fraser’s mission and needs.
DONOR RELATIONS-As Assigned
- Establish and maintain rapport and positive relationships with individual donors.
- Develop and implement efforts to build relationships with corporate donors.
- Identify new corporate funding sources: grants, donations, volunteer hours, etc.
- Petition gifts from major individuals, corporate and foundation prospects.
- Plan solicitation strategies with the CEO and development staff.
- Assure regular contact with contributors through activities; continue donor awareness of our goals and needs.
RECORDKEEPING AND REPORTING
- Record donations and thank donors per policy.
- Coordinate proper acknowledgement of all donors in appropriate publications.
- Analyze with department members quarterly and annual fundraising goals.
- The ability to create powerful and compelling written and oral communications for fundraising.
- Must have excellent facilitation and/or presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and donor contact database programs.
BRAND IDENTIFICATION
- Drive measurable utilization of website and social media; create cohesive brochures and displays.
- Coordinate catalog of communications materials (presentations, booths, recording of testimonials).
- When appropriate, network with other community professionals for fundraising ideas/sources.
- Represent Fraser, Ltd in a positive, professional, courteous manner at all public functions and events.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree and 10 years’ experience in sales.
- Previous experience developing relationships and achieving annual goals; proven sales experience.
- Recognized success in fundraising and development strategies for a large nonprofit.
- The ability to create powerful and compelling written and oral communications for fundraising.
- Must have excellent facilitation and/or presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and donor contact database programs.
