Location
This position is eligible for a hybrid work model. When attending an event or meeting in person, your primary office location be based out of City Hall, 426 Brant Street. This position will also travel to various recreation and community centres located throughout the city. Work location is subject to change at the discretion of the City due to operational demands.

Passion to support staff and help them do even greater work for, and in, the community. Passion to work with community groups and joint ventures to support them in their work within the City.
We are looking for an individual who will:
- Set a strategic vision and oversee the results for not only the department but who will also assist Council in achieving their strategic plan.
- Actively participate as a member of the City’s leadership team, bringing a department and corporate perspective to the table.
- Advance the City’s reputation as a leading municipal service provider related to recreation and culture including a commitment to inclusive community development and programming excellence.
- Partner with 300 plus community organizations to enhance the quality of life in our community.
- Lead, mentor, and coach highly dedicated employees which include 100 fulltime and up to 700 part-time employees.
- Oversee a diverse budget that includes both operating and capital budgets for twenty-eight distinct business units and thirty-two facilities.
Requirements
You have an undergraduate degree, preferably in recreation, business or municipal management plus 7 to 10 years’ experience in a senior leadership capacity. Leadership includes managing through complex situations, financial management and budgeting, inspiring those around you and supporting Council in achieving their goals. You have demonstrated skills in communication, problem solving, and the ability to work collaboratively across the organization. You understand that customer experience is more than providing a program or supporting an event. You will understand the breadth and depth of the business of recreation, sport and culture.
This position may require occasional travel between sites and/or City facilities.
