Job description
As General Manager, you’ll plan and direct selected aspects of a distribution center by ensuring a safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of the unit. You’ll be responsible for process improvement, budgeting, and personnel management as well as the planning and implementation of selected projects to achieve safety, operational, and quality goals.
- Annually prepares target, capital, payroll, and expense budgets for selected areas of the distribution center.
- Establishes and maintains operational processes to achieve productivity, quality, and waste objectives.
- Direct training and development activities.
- Conducts performance reviews of direct reports and provides guidance for personal development plans.
- Coordinate selected corporate initiatives
- Leads continuous improvement efforts while applying lean thinking and tools to identify and eliminate waste in all areas of the position.
ROLE SPECIFICS
- Supervision – Supervise Human Resource Manager, Directors of Warehouse and Transportation, Operations Supervisor, Quality Manager and Maintenance Manager at the facility. Manage and support our Calgary, AB Distribution Center
- Travel – Overnight travel and extended stays of 2-5 nights per month for trainings or meetings. Must have ability to travel independently as needed, without restriction by all modes of transportation, including car, plane, or train. Must be able to travel to the United States

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent Dot Foods experience.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office
- Strong personal and group communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead in a team environment.
- Master’s degree.
- Prior distribution experience.
