Kootenay Employment Services administers the WorkBC program in Cranbrook. The WorkBC program is a provincially funded program assisting the local community members to find meaningful and sustainable employment.

Due to an internal promotion, we are looking for a someone to join the KES team on a termed contract, this position is 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday for 6 months. We are looking for someone who wants to create a professional and welcoming atmosphere within the WorkBC Centre reception area and assist clients with self-serve services.
In this position you are the face of WorkBC, and the duties in the role include:
- Assist clients with the online enrollment for services.
- Assist clients in the self-serve resource area with job applications, resumes and cover letters, job searches and other supports as required
- Maintain and organize job board
- Direct clients to appropriate services and resources, and identify clients who may need crisis-care services
- Answer phones and schedule client appointments
- Opening and closing duties including locking cabinets, opening washroom doors, locking closing empty rooms, move cash register, turn off computers/screens, lock doors, turn off music/lights/computers
- Make follow up calls to successfully employed clients
- Enter data into our online database system
- Close client files
- Correct data quality errors
- Other duties as required
To be successful in this position you will possess:
- A high level of computer and software proficiency (including MS Office)
- An excellent communication skills, with a focus on listening and comprehension & conflict resolution
- The ability to exercise a high level of patience when coaching clients with little or no computer skills
- Persistent professionalism particularly in relation to office practices, document presentation and systems (use and development)
- The ability to remain calm and professional if clients display frustration and possess judicious customer service skills to resolve issues and concerns.
- Excellent prioritization skills when dealing with the work-related needs of other team members, and strong multitasking skills
- A solution orientated personality - focused on results and task completion
- A team player attitude
- Past experience in reception and/or administration an asset, as is experience assisting people in recruitment, HR, social services or working with people with diversabilities
- A degree or Diploma will be highly regarded as is knowledge of community resources available
