LOCATION: Cranbrook, BC

JOB TYPE: Full-time

PLEASE NOTE: This job may require travel throughout multiple cities within the Kootenays

JOB DUTIES:

As an Excavator Operator, you will work as part of a team performing moderate to heavy physical labour building and maintaining the track and surrounding materials. Duties can include digging test holes, back blading, grading, excavating foundations, as well as responding to emergencies and track outages.

• 
  Able to demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of railway industry
• Responsible for various administrative tasks in regard to production reports, timekeeping, etc.
• Perform general labour with crew as required
• Responsible to ensure compliance to all REMCAN and customer safety policies and procedures
• Responsible for exceptional care and able to follow PM schedules of your machine

This role is a Safety Sensitive position and pre-employment drug and alcohol testing will be required. Candidates considered for employment MUST pass all required pre-employment testing and agree to be monitored as prescribed by government rules and regulations governing fitness for duty. As an employee involved in rail operations, impairment in the workplace could result in a significant incident involving the health, wellness, and safety of yourself, your colleagues, and members of the general public.

REQUIREMENTS

• At least 5 years Excavator operating license
• Valid Class 1 drivers' license
• Railway experience considered an asset
• Able to produce a drivers' abstract and insurance claims history
• Able to pass pre-employment medical and drug screening
• Must pass e-RailSafe Canada workforce compliance system
• Able to pass all required railway operating rules examinations
• First Aid and WHIMIS are assets
• Able to demonstrate an ability to work unsupervised as well as in teams
• Able to work all types of shifts as required
• Able to work in various weather conditions all year round (hot & cold)
• Ability and willingness to travel to remote work locations if required
• Maintain REMCAN safety guidelines & policies at all times
