Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the candidate will be part of the engineering team that brings first to market systems to the Defense industry. The position allows the candidate to be involved in all aspects of the project phase including concept, research, design development, prototyping, and validation testing on electro-mechanical assemblies and/or systems.

This position enjoys a 9/80 work schedule working remotely up to 60% of the time depending on the project. Who wouldn't want a long weekend enjoying every other Friday off? DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform structural and vibrational FEAs on components and systems.

Analyzing designs of new products in development as well as existing parts to assist in failure analysis.

Design changes of existing parts to improve reliability, manufacturability or to reduce cost.

Use FEA knowledge to optimize components in their design phase for weight and cost savings.

Perform FEA in Solidworks / Solidworks Composites

Design and/or specification of parts, components, or assemblies for use in current products

Actively work with employees, managers and engineering team to improve existing processes and operations through better working practices and new technology.

Ability to manage time effectively to work on multiple projects simultaneously

Effectively liaise with other members of divisional team, FPH Group, customers and outside suppliers

Owns the design and development plan from cradle to grave and project management of the design from a task and timing perspective to meet the overall project timelines.

Reviewing and providing feedback on both internal and external statements of work.

Assist with quote opportunities as required working in conjunction with business development and quoting personnel with respect to review of engineering standards required specific to each customer

Driven to ensure all key performance indicator targets are met

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Must be a Canadian Citizen

Bachler’s Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering

Experience / specific courses in FEA required.

Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, specifications and schematics

Able to rapidly work and learn with minimal supervision on projects involving both small and large engineering teams

Experience working in Solidworks preferred.

Ability to work within a diverse team

Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal

Ability to be flexible in hours of work in order to meet internal/external customer requirements including overtime

Demonstrate initiative, reliability and positive team attitude

Composite design engineering experience is an asset but not required

Defense or automotive experience an asset

Understanding of mil. standards an asset but not required

Extremely detail oriented and analytical thinker

Must be able to successfully pass a controlled goods background check
