The École is an independent, French-American bilingual school serving an international community of Maternelle-to-Middle School students in New York City’s Flatiron District in Manhattan. The school offers a bilingual French-American academic program and has a student body of more than 260 students from Nursery through 8th Grade (ages 2-13).

We are looking for candidates for the position of Daycare Assistant to replace our current assistant during their maternity leave (February - June inclusive). The position entails working between 25 and 29 hours and the salary range is $25-$30 an hour depending on experience.

Qualifications:

• Nurturing, dynamic, interactive approach to caring for young children
• An open mind and passion for collaborating with colleagues and working as part of a team.
• At least two years of recent experience assisting in childcare or preschool.
• Ability to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities include:

• Assist in organizing and facilitating developmentally appropriate activities for 2-year-old students
• Help plan, prepare, and maintain classroom setting; supervises children in the classroom; provide a supportive environment in which children can learn and practice appropriate and acceptable individual and group behaviors.
• Interact with parents and community groups; maintain open and cooperative communication with parents and families, encouraging their involvement in the program and supporting the child's family relationships.

Preferred:

Degree or coursework in early childhood development, psychology, or education. Proficiency in French is an asset but not required.
