Job Description Summary
Supervised on-the-job training program at Hilton Head Island's #1 Resort, which involves a student rotating through a variety of jobs in different outlets to learn all aspects of operating and managing a hospitality operation. In some cases, the internship may involve a student focusing his/her time on one particular area.
Job Description
As a Food & Beverage Intern, you are responsible for welcoming guests and working across several areas of F&B your placement to deliver an excellent Guest experience. A Food & Beverage Intern would also be required to manage guest queries. The internship experience is designed to provide practical experiences in a professional work environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Able to work in all areas of Food & Beverage including Bar, Restaurant, Room Service and Banquets.
  • Manage guest queries in a timely and efficient manner
  • Assists with other restaurant tasks such as cleaning the dining area and preparing silverware and condiments.
  • Follow cash handling procedures
  • Ensure compliance of brand standards
  • Ensure cleanliness of work areas
  • Attends daily department meetings
  • Maintains an up to date working knowledge of all resort amenities as well as any special events
  • Interacts with resort staff in a professional manner, assisting other departments with necessary information
  • Maintains constant awareness of safety issues, (i.e. broken glass, frayed electrical cords, leaks, broken locks and suspicious persons). Reports all safety incidents to Manager on Duty.
  • Acts with responsibility towards all company property, supplies and equipment.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Student currently enrolled in a hospitality program at an accredited college or university
  • Frequently standing and walking
  • Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 25lbs
  • Handling objects
  • Demonstrate ability to apply academic theory to the job situation through practical application.
  • Follow all rules of protocol in effect in the field setting.
  • Accept responsibility for professional conduct as indicated by courtesy and consideration of those encountered in the work situation, promptness in keeping appointments, completing assigned tasks, and positive attitude toward all activities required by the job situation.
  • Exemplify ethical professional behavior evidenced by positive working relationships with all personnel, moral actions, and attention to confidentiality requirements.
  • Participate effectively in-group problem-solving processes demonstrated by direct involvement.
  • Transfer academic theory to the practical job situation, recognizing strengths and areas of improvement of the academic preparation.
  • Demonstrate creativity in theory application during the internship.
  • Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with others.
  • Reading and writing abilities are utilized often.
  • Basic math skills are used frequently.
  • May be required to intern nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
