THE ROLE

We are currently searching for a General Accountant to support the Controller in all general accounting duties that are required for day-to-day accounting operations of the CANA Group of Companies. Key accountabilities and responsibilities include:

• Daily cash receipts and cash clearing, scheduled bank runs, weekly cash reports, monitoring cash balances, and monthly bank reconciliation
• Vendor set up, maintenance and WCB exception reporting
• Weekly cheque payments to vendors
• Credit Card reconciliation, review and posting of expenses
• Completion of monthly GST, PST, T5018 and other government reporting
• Perform month-end and year-end financial close processes
• Review and analyze financial statements to consolidate into company entities
• Prepare monthly and quarterly departmental and business unit reporting
• Assist in Fleet accounting functions (ie: Asset set-up, disposals, depreciation, allocation, analysis and preparation of monthly fixed asset schedules and reporting)
• Payroll processing assistance with various entities

WHAT YOU BRING

• Excellent understanding of full-accounting cycle and generally accepted accounting principles (ASPE)
• 3-5 years of full-cycle accounting experience
• A Post-secondary degree in Accounting
• Experience in a multi-entity environment
• Self-motivated, collaborative team-player with strong analytical skills

NICE TO HAVE

• Experience in the Construction, Engineering, or Property Development industries
• Experience with Viewpoint Vista software
