Iron Bridge Fabrication Inc. is a metal fabrication company that specializes in Highway Bridge welded wide flange girders, tub girders, cable stayed bridges, truss bridges and Corten pedestrian bridges. Additionally, we excel at large custom metal fabrication and service customers in the Government, Industrial, and Agricultural sectors. Established in 2011, we have experience sustained growth since inception. We are now located in New Hamburg, Ontario (15 minutes west of Kitchener-Waterloo) in our new, purpose built, state of the art facility. We take a team approach to everything we do, both internally and with our clients. As a result, we remain on a path of continual growth.

We are looking for a bright, motivated team player to join us, and fill the role of General Labourer.

Description of Roll

A General Labourer is part of the production team. Involved in project discussions, communicating with the Metal Fabricators, Welders, Project Foreperson, and the Plant Manager, to produce high quality steel fabrications. The General Labourer will be work with all members of the Fabrication Team who are provided shop drawings and project specific instructions from which to perform the required tasks including layout, cutting, fitting, and welding and delivery of steel structures and components. The General Labourer works primarily under the direction of the Project Foreperson and the Plant Manager.

Responsibilities and Duties

As a General Labourer your duties will be based on your ability, experience and training and can include:

• Material handling using equipment you have been trained on including forklifts, side loaders, overhead cranes, service trucks and trailers
• Cutting, grinding and welding of steel components
• Measurement and layout
• Priming and painting
• Pick-ups and deliveries
• Shop and yard maintenance, organization and housekeeping
• Layout, fit and weld prefabricated components, sub-assemblies and complete structures within given tolerances and specifications.

Qualifications and Skills

The preferred candidate will have the following attributes:

• A positive, can-do attitude with excellent communication skills, a willingness to learn and share new ideas
• Organized, self-motivated, able to manage time efficiently
• An interest and aptitude for the trades of Metal Fabricator and or Welder

Preference will be given to candidates that:

• Possess a valid G license with a clean drivers abstract
• Job related training, safety training and certificates
• Achieved a high school diploma
• Experience in a similar roll

The General Labourer is an entry level position intended to expose the team member to the trades of Metal Fabricator and Welder. A team member that demonstrates aptitude, ability and a positive attitude will be provided training and certification safety, equipment operation, CWB welding tickets and company paid, Skilled Trades Ontario Apprenticeships in either the Red Seal Metal Fabricator or Red Seal Welder programs.
