The following vacancy exists in Goshen Community Schools for the 2022-23 school year:

Childcare Assistant
POSITION PURPOSE: We are looking for a patient, attentive Childcare Assistant to care for children. The Childcare Assistant will work with the Childcare Leader in monitoring the children’s, behavior, hygiene and emotions as well as providing them with age-appropriate play. They will assist with sterilizing toys and play areas as well as other duties to ensure that the children are in a safe, engaging, and clean environment.
To be successful as a Childcare Assistant, you should be thorough and caring with an eye for detail. You should be prepared to meet the physical demands of the position and have an understanding of the childhood development process.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides care for children, such as setting schedules and routines, grooming, feeding, changing diapers, and cleaning rooms and toys.
- Develops and encourages age-appropriate learning and socialization to ensure children learn basic skills and concepts, such as communication, manners, sharing, etc.
- Maintains a safe workplace by monitoring children for health, behavioral, and emotional issues and reporting concerns to staff and parents.
- Helps children discover new interests by introducing them to art, music, sports, and other potential hobbies.
- Ensures children are learning positive behaviors and providing guidance or approved discipline, as needed.
- Keeps records related to childcare.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record
- Current certificate in CPR/AED
- Current Immunizations Records
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Further education and experience preferred.
- Decisiveness, patience, and stamina to chase after, lift, and/or carry children.
- Exceptional communication, teaching, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong understanding of stages of childhood development.
- Attentiveness to the needs and safety of children.
- Possess an ability to follow directions
- Possess an ability to adapt and be flexible to formats within the educational procedure (community-based instruction and inclusive teaching models)
- Be prompt and assertive
- Demonstrate the ability to organize
- Demonstrate the ability to cooperate with administration and faculty
- Demonstrate a willingness to improve
- Be able to perform job duties without supervision
- Be able to accept constructive criticism
- Be able to establish rapport with staff and children; ability to maintain discipline
- Possess tact; courtesy; good judgment
- Dress appropriately in accordance with building policy/expectations
- Be in good physical health
- Student specific training in cooperation with supervising staff
WORK CALENDAR: School Year - 184 days per year; 40 hours per week; 6:45am-3:15pm or 8:00am-4:30pm
SALARY: $15.00-$15.30, rate is dependent upon education and/or experience. (Schedule #21-1)
