Position Overview:
Join the Finning Canada family, part of the world’s largest Caterpillar dealer. We are currently looking for a dedicated Resident Heavy Duty Mechanic who will be responsible for the field troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of a variety of Caterpillar products, supported out of our Finning Hinton location.
This position will work a 7x7 continuous shift rotation. If you are a safety conscious team player, self-motivated, autonomous, detail-oriented and possess your Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification with a valid driver’s license, then you are exactly who we are looking for!
Job Description:
- Troubleshoot and repair Caterpillar equipment
- Perform field diagnosis and field running repairs
- Utilize Caterpillar SIS and ET daily
- Complete technical documentation (service reports, warranty, crossover notes)
- Interact with customers, sales support, and the rest of the Finning team
- Work with the Service Supervisor on various tasks as required
Qualifications:
- Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge and experience with Large TTT, LMT, Drills and Hydraulic Shovels will be considered an asset.
- Completion, or in the process of completing all Finning S- level courses
- Availability to travel domestically and potentially internationally for training
- Must be flexible with availability for training
- Self-motivated and computer literate
- Experience with Costwatcher, DBS, SIS and Warranty Systems as well as a good understanding of Finning systems, would all be assets
- Successful candidate will need to be customer orientated and motivated to meet the customer's expectations
- Ability to work safely with minimal supervision
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience repairing CAT equipment preferred

- Overtime is a requirement as customer requested
