Job Description – Housekeeper

Orchard Walk Retirement Residence, a retirement community just south of Ottawa is seeking the services of full time Housekeepers. Hours are flexible. Orchard Walk is situated in Greely, just 10 minutes from Hunt Club road. The home is located on 11 acres and boasts a petting farm, walking paths, a duck pond and beautiful gardens. The building itself is an indoor living centre with beautiful spaces.

Taking direction from the Office Manager, the Housekeeper is responsible for housekeeping and laundry services in resident rooms. The Housekeepers also support the custodian on keeping the building in good order. As part of a team of wonderful staff, the Housekeeper is the daily contact person for residents in their rooms. As an outgoing and friendly person, you bring a smile to the faces of our residents as you go about your work in their room. You are a welcome face and a helping hand.

The successful incumbent will be able to:

· Perform housekeeping, laundry and bed-making duties

· Interact with residents in an friendly and supportive manner

· Complete basic building cleaning tasks in support of the custodian

· Work as part of a housekeeping team

· Carry out basic administrative tasks such as checklists and order lists

Qualifications:

• Experience or desire to work with the elderly in an outgoing and friendly manner;

• Previous housekeeping experience an asset;

• Ability to work within and promote a team environment;

• Must be able to read, write and understand English;

• Highly organized and able to work independently;

• Must be able to complete on-line training and pass a police check for the vulnerable sector.
