We are a well-established and one of BC's largest independent real estate companies located in Vancouver and we are excited to bring on a Jr. Accountant to join our growing team.
Working under the supervision of the Sr Accountants, you are expected to carry out a variety of accounting and bookkeeping tasks. You are required to exercise good judgment in interpreting and adapting to company policies, as well as Real Estate Council and Revenue Canada Taxation regulations. You will also be expected to perform other duties and responsibilities that are consistent with the qualification of the position.
This role requires a highly flexible, detail-oriented candidate who thrives in a busy team environment. Salary is based on experience in addition to highly competitive benefits plan offered by the company.
Duties and responsibilities may include the following:
- Monitor daily online bank balances; add/check daily bank deposits for accuracy. Research and resolve invoice discrepancies for issues
- Assemble, review, and verify invoices, expense reports and payment requests. Daily reconciliation of bank accounts for multiple offices
- Written monthly bank reconciliation of all bank statements, including the Trust accounts in accordance with the rules of the Real Estate Council of B.C., by the 25th of the following month
- Enter and update invoices in the system
- Accounts payable/receivable for multiple offices
- Month end journal entries
- Run quick cheques, as needed
- Assist where necessary with any other accounting function
- Enter agents’ expense charges for multiple offices on a monthly basis
- Provide information to management or agents when required on issues concerning agent expense accounts
- Balance inter-company’s transactions
- Reconcile printing and posting charges and bill them to respective offices
Other Duties:
- Mail processing
- Banking duties, as needed
- Assist in smooth transition of accounting for new acquisitions/offices
Qualifications and Skills:
- Post-secondary/equivalent education required
- Minimum 1 years of accounting experience in the related field
- Must have a good understanding of accounting principles and working knowledge of computerized accounting
- Experience within the real estate industry considered an asset
- Must be able to always demonstrate and maintain a high standard of service and professionalism
- Good verbal and written communication skills essential
- Able to self-motivate and work independently
- Effective problem solver
- Must be accurate, organized, and detail-oriented
- Intermediate to advanced understanding of Microsoft Office (specifically, Excel)
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $40,000.00-$45,000.00 per year
