Summary of Opportunity

In support of the general growth of the Group and future expansion plans, there is an immediate requirement for a Junior Accounting Clerk to assist in the build out of the head office accounting and finance function. The successful candidate will become an integral member of the accounting group with duties and responsibilities expanding over time and will report to the Senior Financial Analyst.

The individual will be required to perform all the basic accounting/bookkeeping tasks in order to learn in detail the operations of the various group companies. Responsibilities are primarily related to Canadian operations but will also include other non-Canadian based subsidiaries.

Location

The Company is currently located in Toronto downtown financial district.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Receive, verify and process vendor invoices and employee expenses.
  • Preparation of month end bank reconciliations.
  • Process journal entries from supporting working papers.
  • Manage cheque runs in accordance with corporate payment policies.
  • Maintain the general ledger at the basic level.
  • Maintain fixed asset records.
  • Other ad hoc banking transactions.
  • Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information when required.
  • Compile weekly revenue reports.
  • Assist in payroll functions as required.
  • Provide administrative support as required including: o maintenance of filing systems for all financial documents. o certain office administration duties as required. (e.g. office supplies)
  • Other duties as required.

Candidate Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

  • Exposure to financial services industry an asset.
  • Knowledge of accounts payable and maintain general ledgers
  • Strong computer skills with good knowledge of MS Excel; familiarity with Sage accounting software an asset.
  • Ability to maintain and high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality concerning financial and employee files.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under pressure; dealing with changes and interruptions while maintaining strict deadlines.
  • Proven self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Competitive base salary commensurate with skills and experience
  • This is permanent position

Timing: Immediate

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $16.00-$22.00 per hour
