Job Summary

As the Technical Operator you will support instructional technology in classrooms and other supported facilities. This includes support for calls from classrooms, direct support of technology in classrooms and support and training of individual instructors in classrooms. Responsible for installing, monitoring, replacing or repairing classroom equipment.


Learning Spaces provides design, installation, and support for instructional technology across the entire campus. Technology and room design is constantly evolving to help support active learning styles. This is an opportunity to work with the latest instructional technology, and an entry into a growing and dynamic field.


There is a target salary of $15.50/hour with a shift differential after 4:00pm until midnight.

This position is located on the Purdue (West Lafayette) campus, Monday - Friday from 3:00pm to midnight.


What We're Looking For:

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience using desktop computer applications and operating systems, including Windows systems

Preferred:

  • Experience with incident management system and resolution of incidents using customer service skills
  • Experience with classroom technologies (projectors, audio equipment, meeting/lecture software/hardware, etc…)

Skills Needed:

  • Knowledge of:
    • customer service principles and the ability to resolve incidents effectively, including urgent and high impact classroom incidents
    • configuration of desktop computers, network setup, and troubleshooting
    • audio-visual technology, including microphones, speakers, and projection
  • Ability to quickly diagnose and resolve hardware issues with classroom technology
  • Capability to install classroom technology including: computers, lecture capture hardware, projection lamps, microphones, recorders and cabling
  • Ability to maintain awareness of issues with current classroom technology as well as new classroom technologies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred:

  • Capability to diagnose issues with portable devices (laptops, tablets, etc.) used for presentations
  • Experience with Macintosh Operating Systems. Knowledge of University procedures
