Learning Transformation Specialist - Work Integrated Learning Division (Terrace)

Job description and duties

Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Terrace campus, invites applications for a continuing full-time Learning Transformation Specialist (LTS) commencing as soon as possible. Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor scale.

Duties: Working closely with the Associate Dean of Learning and Teaching, the LTS will coordinate and play a lead role in the Work-Integrated Learning Division (WILD) to increase meaningful and quality WIL experiences at Coast Mountain College. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting all aspects of WILD, including researching and recommending best practices for WIL-related endeavours and supporting grant writing, funding applications, and ministry reporting
  • Developing and working in consultation with a WIL Working Community Group (committee)
  • Supporting creation of policy and procedures, and other documentation related to WIL
  • Creating website content for students/employers which includes working on the BC Northern WIL Hub and with Outcome Campus Connect
  • Creating and aggregating “job readiness” resources for students and instructors
  • Delivering workshops to students and instructors, in coordination with the Student Success department and the Centre of Learning Transformation
  • Working with instructors, researching, organizing and supporting embedded WIL placements in programs and field schools
  • Understanding, researching and using industry-related technology
  • Engaging with industry/Chamber of Commerce; attending community events
  • Designing evaluation criteria and obtaining feedback from students/instructors/employers
  • Contacting potential employers, WIL leaders at other institutions, and community members to build a network of potential placements

Qualifications

A Master’s degree in Education or a related discipline along with experience leading multi-departmental projects working with community partners is necessary. Experience in curriculum development, teacher training, WIL or Co-op coordination would be an asset. An equivalent combination of education, skills and extensive experience will be considered.

Required skills and abilities include:

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate projects and personnel, including working with faculty
  • 5 years of experience in research and teaching in post-secondary education
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and accurately in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to provide a motivational learning environment
