Position Summary

The position of Loader Operator and Swamper supports shipping, receiving and facility operations by operating heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner to ensure product is received and shipped out safely and with accuracy. Heavy equipment may include trucks, front-end loaders and other pieces of equipment, used to transport tubular product and accessories for clients in the oil and gas industry. The Loader Operator and Swamper must also clean, maintain and secure all equipment as directed by legislation, policies and procedures. Additionally, this position supports the Yard Lead to complete various shipping and receiving functions.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Perform daily pre-safety and maintenance checks of equipment prior to operating and is safe to operate
  • Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies and procedures
  • Safely transport tubular product and accessories and prepare loads to be shipped out on third party trucks
  • Move product and accessories within the yard, move product off finish rack to yard and load pipe racks
  • Maintain inventory
  • Clean heavy equipment as scheduled and/or required
  • Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored
  • Participate in routine maintenance
  • Practice workplace safety
  • Perform pre-winter, winter, spring and summer maintenance on yard
  • Provide shipping and receiving support by receiving inventory into SAP
  • Provide shipping and receiving support by loading accessories onto pallets and shrink wrapping
  • Perform other related duties

Education / Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of experience within a shipping and receiving department
  • Minimum 1 years of experience operating a Wheel Loader with grapples, handling OCTG an asset
  • Certified Loader/Operator course required (can be acquired after hired)
  • Electric Pallet Truck, an asset (can be trained after hired)
  • Forklift, an asset (Can be trained after hired)
  • Class 5 Driver’s License required
  • SAP experience, an asset

Skills

  • Knowledge of safe equipment operation and procedures, maintenance and cleaning standards
  • Problem solving, decision making and effective communication skills
  • Time management skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software is an asset
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and ensure completion to meet deadlines
  • Strong proven analytical and organization skills
  • Attention to detail is critical in this role
