The Ministry of Forests in northeast BC has an exciting opportunity to support reconciliation and accommodation through Crown land transfers to First Nations. The successful candidate will work closely with First Nations and with Ministry and agency colleagues to support land transfers, problem solve issues, and develop processes to ensure the Province meets its commitment to First Nations.

This Senior Licensed Authorizations Specialist is one of the regional points of contact for land transfers with the independence to develop associated business processes and to coordinate and support Ministry response and lead the implementation of the land transfer process. Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education, experience and professional designation requirement as outlined below:

Education and experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a natural resource management related field and a minimum of 3 years of related work experience in a resource management related field, OR
  • Master’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of related work experience in a resource management related field
  • Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, with the British Columbia professional association as required by the specialty area (e.g., BC Institute of Agrologists or BC Association of Forest Professionals). Note: immediately eligible is defined as being able to transfer a current membership from an applicable jurisdiction to the appropriate BC association within 6 months of employment. Confirmation of registration/eligibility is required before an offer of employment can be made.
Preference may be given to those with one or more of the following:
  • Experience performing technical duties related to Land Act tenure administration.
  • Working knowledge of common laws, including such aspects as riparian rights, easements, rights-of-way, under-surface rights, covenants, and timber reservations, as well as current or potential case law in the area of joint stewardship and fiduciary responsibility.
  • Training in project management or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Experience in consultation or engagement and the development of associated plans.
  • Experience with and knowledge of conflict and dispute resolution principles and practices.
