The Opportunity:
The mission of the Manufacturing Manager is to lead the process that produces sustainable phone cases in our Kelowna Sustainability Studio. The person in this position will excel at high quality and quantity, injection-molding, print & engraving production work. They will optimize machine performance and execute production strategies. Leading the Kelowna manufacturing team, they will provide manufacturing insight in the company's collaborative culture.
This role requires an individual that thrives in a fast-paced environment of continuous improvement and problem-solving. Teamwork and adaptability will be critical to success. Meeting deadlines and delivering on promises nurtures your soul.
The Responsibilities:
- Operate and optimize the Kelowna manufacturing operation to meet the needs of production, quality control, and product testing
- Setup, maintain, repair and modify injection, drying, cooling, printing, and engraving equipment to ensure production timelines are met
- Calculate machine settings, setups and mold installations
- Monitor and coordinate preventative maintenance and repair of equipment and tools
- Create 3D printing of prototypes
- Monitor and manage on-hand stock levels of raw materials
- Manage quality assurance processes to reduce waste and maintain product specifications
- Formulate production schedules, set priorities and convey delivery dates
- Collaborate on tool design as it relates to tool fabrication and production processes
- Facilitate machine supplier relations and become the resource for machine operation(Battenfeld, Haitian, Epilog, Mimaki)
- Participate in the research of new equipment and present purchase recommendations
- Manage production staff: training, scheduling, reviews of Production team
- Champion continuous improvement in manufacturing activities
- Insure compliance with regulatory requirements and safety standards procedures
Qualifications & Skills:
- Mechanical Technician, CAD Technician, Engineer or similar education
- 5+ years experience in a machine shop environment
- Knowledge of injection & machining best practices, tooling repair and assembly
- Ability to read CAD drawings and discuss design concepts
- Knowledge of machines and processes in a manufacturing setting
- Experience with Battenfeld, Haitian, Mimaki and Epilogue machines/vendors is an asset
- Experience hiring & managing a team in a production environment
- Ability to coordinate multiple production systems
