Media Message is an advertising, marketing, and public relations agency. We help small to medium businesses refine their message and find cost effective ways to deliver it to their stakeholders so they can grow their business. We become an extension of their marketing department. They rely on us to create a clear message and find cost effective ways to deliver it to their audience in print, broadcast, digital, and social media.

The Job

We are looking for a marketing and communications graduate to join our team as a full time employee. Media Message grew from a small freelance journalism business in 2005. We still rely on long-term freelance writers, graphic designer, photographers and videographers today. We are looking for someone who has a passion for marketing and communications and the ability to write or edit content, produce short videos, create e-Newsletters, navigate social media, and set up remarketing campaigns, among other things.

Most of our clients do business in the agriculture industry. It is therefore important that you have a sincere interest in agriculture and the agri-food industry because we spend most of our time working on Ag projects. You must be interested in agriculture and the equipment, inputs and technology that drives it.

We are very connected in the agriculture industry and will help you become fluent in the industry issues and jargon. Occasional travel within Canada may be required for conferences, tradeshows, and client events.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Execute marketing and advertising campaigns and assist with strategic communications research.
• Manage social media campaigns that are specific to agriculture and connect with farmers on a daily basis.
• Produce ads, e-newsletters, brochures, websites, videos, and other marketing tools and tactics with our team of contractors.
• Research, create, edit, and distribute newsletters, press releases, brochures, blogs, tweets, videos, or other marketing materials.

Qualifications

• Possess a Communications and/or Marketing degree or diploma, and some graphic design and email marketing experience.
• Strong writing skills with solid understanding of grammar and great attention to detail.
• A sincere interest in agriculture and farming is necessary. Knowledge of agricultural issues from an industry or farming perspective would be beneficial.
• Team player who takes direction well and gets the job done on deadline with minimal supervision.
• Functional knowledge of graphic design software, video creation tools and email marketing software.
• Ability to work in both English and French would be an asset.
• Willingness to relocate to central Alberta. Lacombe is a vibrant community of more than 13,000 people located 15 minutes north of Red Deer (population 100,000). Lacombe is approximately halfway between Calgary and Edmonton and is only a 2 hour drive to the mountains. We will consider experienced candidates who wish to work remotely from a home office although that is not our preference. Significant knowledge of agriculture is required for remote work to be considered.
