Established in 1921, the REALTORS® Association of Hamilton-Burlington (RAHB) is a not-for-profit association serving nearly 3,800 real estate professionals across Hamilton, Burlington, Haldimand and Niagara North. The Association operates the local Multiple Listing Service® (MLS®) System and provides ongoing professional education courses for its members. Position Overview

Reporting to the Manager, Communications and External Relations, this full-time position is a key component of the association’s Communications & External Relations department. In addition to providing advanced-level marketing and communications expertise across a wide range of departmental responsibilities, the Marketing & Communications Team Lead will manage the department’s staff team with three direct reports, including a GR & External Relations Specialist, Graphic Design & Digital Assets Coordinator, and Professional Development & Events Coordinator. This position will develop marketing and communications strategies for initiatives within the department’s portfolio, including government relations, advocacy, media relations, professional development, meetings, and events, as well as the organization’s overall objectives to implement and enhance member services and tools.

As a key support person and lead back up to the Manager, Communications and External Relations, there is potential growth in the organization for this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and execution of RAHB’s internal and external marketing, communications and event initiatives/strategies, including evaluating appropriate tactics, distribution methods and mediums to reach targeted audiences
  • Engage, develop and manage the staff team by providing day-to-day support and guidance, timely feedback, and training
  • Oversee the development of various corporate communications requirements, such as event planning, position papers, annual reports, presentations and proposals
  • Plan, prepare and/or delegate, and edit content for the association’s communications, such as the weekly newsletter and blog
  • Execute various campaign strategies, projects and initiatives for the department and throughout the association
  • Oversee the association’s rebranding efforts and website refresh
  • Act as a department liaison for various RAHB committees, task forces and focus groups to bring knowledge, ideas and resources back to the team
  • Develop and oversee media strategies to showcase RAHB and the importance of using a local REALTOR®
  • Assist with preparing and managing budgets related to department plans
  • Regularly collaborate with the staff throughout the REALTOR® community and local professional organizations
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in a discipline appropriate and relevant to public relations, marketing, communications, and/or equivalent
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience supporting an organization’s marketing and communications strategies
  • Minimum of three years of supervisory or management experience
  • Advanced verbal and written communication competencies, including superior writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Strong knowledge of the digital landscape, including emerging trends
  • Experience communicating and liaising with news media
  • Consensus-building, consultation, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to conceptualize easily, learn quickly, and independently exercise good judgement and initiative
  • Effective project management skills
  • Ability to participate and contribute effectively as part of a team
  • Not-for-profit experience is considered an asset
  • Availability for occasional travel to participate in meetings or events outside of the Hamilton-Burlington region
