St. John’s United (SJU) is specifically looking for an Occupational Therapist for our new Transitional Rehab Center. SJU will be opening our new 36 bed transitional care rehab unit on our main campus in the fall. Consider joining our interdisciplinary team of PTs, OTs, SLP, social workers, rehab certified nurses and CNAs and primary care providers. This will be a state of the art and much sought after transitional rehab center.

Summary:

Assess, plan, organize, and participates in rehabilitation programs that help restore vocational homemaking and daily living skills, as well as general independence, to the residents of this facility and outpatient clients

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Responsibilities to Resident/patient/clients

  • Test and evaluate resident/outpatient physical and mental abilities and analyze medical data to determine realistic rehabilitation goals for that individual
  • Recommend changes to resident/outpatient work or living environments, consistent with their needs and capabilities
  • Consult with rehabilitation team to select activity programs and coordinate occupational therapy with other therapeutic activities
  • Help resident/outpatient to improve or maintain the highest level of decision making, abstract reasoning, memory, sequencing, coordination and perpetual skills appropriate to daily living needs
  • Design and create, or requisition, special supplies and equipment, such as splints, braces and adaptive equipment
  • Plan and implement programs and social activities to help resident/outpatient maintain highest level of independence
  • Provide appropriate direction and supervision to COTA required by AOTA and Montana State Laws

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Record Keeping/Training Opportunities

  • Complete and maintain necessary records
  • Evaluate resident/outpatient progress and prepare reports that detail progress
  • Provide training and supervision in therapy techniques, and objectives for nursing and non-nursing staff within the facility
  • Advise on health risks in the workplace

  • Obeys safety rules of St. John’s United
  • Identifies, reports, and/or corrects obvious safety hazards
  • Attends mandatory safety in-services

  • Follows policy and procedures on annual TB testing.
  • Follows policy and procedures on annual influenza vaccinations.
  • Attends all mandatory in-services
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Rehab
Requirements:

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Requirements: Must be a licensed Occupational Therapist in the State of Montana with one to two years related experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Requires moderate physical work more than 50% of the time, including lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, carrying, walking, and bending for prolonged periods of time.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work involves some exposure to hazards, blood borne pathogens, or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
  • Normal health care environment.
  • Work involves exposure to plants and animals within the environment.
