Processes the payroll of the organization, along with the administration, accounting and reporting functions of the employee benefit programs. Performs a variety of bookkeeping and maintenance of various payroll records and reports. Reports directly to the Manager of Payroll & Finance

More Details

  • Responsible for the bi-weekly payroll, including paycheques or direct deposit payments and pay stubs.
  • Responsible for the administration and accounting function for the employee benefits (i.e. MPP, Extended Health).
  • Collect and review timekeeping information; obtain supervisory approval of scheduling discrepancies.
  • Maintain related records in accordance with established polices and guidelines and produce reports as required.
  • Calculate all earnings, deductions, advances and paybacks.
  • Update employee payroll records as needed.
  • Process and close periodic payrolls.
  • Calculate and deposit payroll taxes.
  • Answer questions from employees related to payroll topics.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Strong computer skills such as typing, system and software knowledge
  • Accurate data entry skills with great attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to communicate with employees regarding their issues and concerns
  • Being an effective team player
  • Sound decision-making skills
  • Ability to multitask in a stressful environment with specific deadlines
  • Ability to work independently in a time-sensitive environment
  • Confidentiality and respect for the privacy of employee records

Education and Knowledge

Certificate or Diploma in Business Administration or Payroll Administration is preferred

Training and Experience

One (1) year recent related experience in a complex payroll environment is preferred.
