We are looking to hire an Independent Contractor to perform the work of a Senior Planner/Scheduler to support our client in the oil and gas industry in the Fort St. John area of BC, Canada. The candidate will be managing the scheduling of work based on priority and availability of resources.

What you will be doing?

This role will require the successful candidate to work 4 days a week at the client site and 1 day a week remotely. There will be occasional travel to the client’s other offices within the region. You will conduct scheduling for operating area(s), which includes the following responsibilities:

  • Facilitate Schedule review sessions for Feedback with Operations/Maintenance - Pre-approval of schedule
  • Issues weekly schedule for execution
  • Manages 3-week schedule of planned work through 3 week rolling schedule methodology utilizing ‘Ready for Schedule’ (RFS) bucketed work orders
  • Schedule corrective and planned maintenance orders utilizing priority constraints or in alignment to asset criticality and priority activities
  • Bundle work for equipment and schedule concurrent opportunities, if applicable
  • Integrate & optimize schedules (Project / O&M work fronts) across equipment, facility/station, & P/L system to meet Commercial & Program requirements
  • Facilitate optimization review meetings with key stakeholder (Weekly schedule Cadence)
  • Utilize system and tools (Click Scheduler)
  • Monitor and track schedule execution & compliance (on time, late, early deliveries) through the system
  • Reviews labour, materials, tools, vehicles, services and all prerequisites, job plan documentation etc. as required; updates schedule dates for requisition (second set of eyes)
  • Creates, modifies, reviews schedule development to determine if acceptable and reasonable. Confirm work package is complete.
  • Create schedule based on regional needs based on priorities - with feedback from operations and other stakeholders
  • Build Straw Model of weekly Schedule from Jobs in Ready Backlog - Compliance first, Based on Estimated Due Date
  • Bundle work onto schedule based on GIS location
  • Assign Available Labour (names) to the Scheduled jobs starting with the highest priority first
  • Notify Supervisor that scheduled Crew / Craft is offline
  • Review gaps in the schedule (where not enough labour to complete)
  • Review Scheduled jobs for completeness (due to Break-in)
  • Coordinates outage requirements with Regional Outage Coordinator where required -
  • Verify Workorders in backlog have appropriate time frame for execution.
  • Adjust Schedule (de-schedule work) based on unavailability of crew / craft resource in consultation with Area Ops Supervisor
  • Reviews completed schedules with Area Supervisor to determine jobs that were completed vs. scheduled to determine causes for any incomplete jobs.
  • Provides guidance, direction, and training to Junior Schedulers within the region

What we are looking for:

A driven individual with a strong attention to detail and the ability to be flexible in order to adjust priorities to meet changing conditions. Must be able to effectively interface and communicate with both internal and external clients, both verbally and written and make decisions in a timely manner to keep the client moving forward.

In addition, you will have:

  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant and demonstrable experience in the oil and gas or energy sector.
  • Planning experience specific to operations/maintenance work orders/SOPs
  • A minimum of 1 years’ experience in a supervisory role.
  • Scheduling experience specific to operations/maintenance work orders
  • Experience with CMMS (SAP or Maximo)
  • Previous experience in coaching and training junior staff
  • Previous experience in a client-facing role
  • Experience with ClickSchedule Software considered an asset.

Job Types: Full-time, Freelance

Salary: $70.00 per hour
