THE POWER OF TRADES ADVERTISEMENT

Are you a newcomer to Canada? Are you interested in a pre-employment program that can HELP you get a job in the skilled trades? Power of Trades team with the YMCA of Southwestern Ontario is here to help! There are currently 144 skilled trades in Canada (https://www.skilledtradesontario.ca/about-trades/trades-information/), and the Windsor/Essex Region has many positions in these trades that need to be filled. Power of Trades is a pre-employment program that consists of 4 weeks of in-class training and a 3-week placement in your trade of choice. You will receive information and practical advice about finding and keeping a job in the skilled trades in Ontario. Examples of material covered in the training includes: understanding the apprenticeship process in Ontario, labour laws and regulations in Ontario, understanding what Canadian trades employers look for in a new employee, resume and interview preparation, guest speakers from local industry, and other useful information and activities!

If you want to join Power of Trades, you must:

- Be a permanent resident, convention refugee, or CAUET (Canadian Authorized Ukrainian Emergency Travel)

- Be 18+

- Be a resident of Ontario

- Have time to commit to the program (Monday to Friday | 9:00AM – 4:00PM)

- Have a strong interest in the skilled trades
