Position Summary
The Prep Cooks work with the Line Cooks and Sous to determine the production goals for the day and ensure quality products are being produced. The Prep Cook is expected to prepare hot and cold foods for the restaurant and cafe, as well as catered events as required.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
- Work closely with other kitchen staff and the Executive Chef to produce a high quality product
- Determine production goals with the Sous and the Executive Chef and work to achieve those goals
- Prepare food items ahead of time and prepare items according to consistent quality, portions and presentation standards
- Ensure a clean, neat, and presentable work space at all times
- Ensure everything is stored properly at the correct temperature, labeled and organized
- Operate all kitchen equipment, including the steamer, grill, wood oven, fryer etc.
- Make your supervisor aware of any shortages, out-of-stock items, equipment issues etc.
Education, Experience, & Skills
- High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
- Culinary degree or equivalent an asset
- Knife skills
- At least 6 months experience in a kitchen required
