Risun Polymer International Co. Ltd is a leading producer of silane terminated polymers, and high-performance textile coating and finishing solution provider. Risun Polymer Canada (part of Risun Polymer International Co. Ltd.) is a polymeric material innovation company located in Hamilton, Ontario. We are seeking an enthusiastic R&D scientist with expertise in synthesis (polymers or small molecules) to develop innovative solutions for waterproof, oil-resistant, antimicrobial textile coating and finishing tasks, and work in the areas of silane-terminated polymers to develop polymeric additives to improve the performance of STP-based adhesives and sealants.

(We are currently renovating our R&D laboratories and manufacturing plant; our R&D chemists are temporarily working in BI labs at McMaster University before the renovation completion)

DUTIES:

  • Reporting to R&D director, you will carry out product development, optimize, and scale new polymers and improve existing ones for textile coating and finishing, and polymeric additives to improve the performance of STP-based adhesives and sealants.
  • Work closely with a team of Scientists, Engineers, and Technologist/Technicians within R&D and manufacturing teams.
  • Apply experimental, and analytical techniques for the characterization of polymers and chemical and physical properties of coated textiles surfaces.
  • Identify customers’ needs and formulate project goals and outcomes.
  • Write up technical reports and procedures, generate and maintain standard operation procures.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in synthesis (polymers or small molecules) from a university of recognized standing.
  • A PhD degree in synthesis (polymers or small molecules) may be considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 3+ years relevant experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience in materials for adhesives and textile coating, designing, preparing, formulations development, processing, and testing.
  • Experiences in materials, surface/interface characterization techniques.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as a team-oriented mindset for collaborative research, are critical.
