RECREATION THERAPIST – Extendicare Leduc
Candidates are invited to apply for the position of Recreation Therapist, CTRS at our Extendicare Leduc, located in Leduc, Alberta. This facility is home to 79 long-term care residents.
The successful candidate will be responsible for and have the following qualifications:
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Recreation Therapist reporting to Administrator consults with and advises the team concerning program needs and plans for recreational programs. The Recreational Therapist is responsible for programming that removes barriers to independent, meaningful, social contact for residents. Works to maintain or improve the quality of life and overall health for residents by planning meaningful leisure activities
- Plans, implements, evaluate and monitor recreational programs as determined by resident interest and need.
- Conducts assessment, develops and implements individual resident recreational plans and interventions, completes MDS 2.0 assessments as required
- Develops and delivers programs for individuals and groups
- Evaluates the success of treatment and intervention plans and the outcomes achieved
- Acts as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team
- Provides staff with clinical education and direction to resident leisure and activation as well as planning and delivery
QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of a college or university degree program as Recreation Therapist or equivalent
- Experience working in long term care preferred.
- Proficiency with computer applications Microsoft Office and internet. Experience with MDS 2.0 desirable, familiarity with software PointClickCare an asset.
- Customer-focused attitude, with demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective team relationships with staff and residents.
- Demonstrates the ability to teach, motivate and empower residents/staff.
