Our client is looking to add a Senior Buyer/ Purchasing Manager to their team in Ingersoll, OntThe successful candidate will be responsible for the procurement of product in accordance with customer requirements and information generated from Commercial Department.
Purchasing personnel represent our client as it's communication liaison with subcontractors in all matters in issues involving the companies subcontractors and the purchase of product from those subcontractors. Involved in sourcing new product and negotiating pricing with suppliers. This candidate will be responsible for freight, brokerage liaison, compliance to customs regulations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
This position is involved in all aspects of the purchase of product which include, but are not limited to, the following :
Source product based on inquiry received from Commercial Department which can include but is not limited to the customer’s request for quotation, the customer’s requirement forecast and indication from Commercial department through RFQ process.
Expanding product knowledge to assist in negotiating reasonable pricing, suggest cost saving ideas to clients personnel and suppliers and to have a better understanding of the product being purchased.
Run forecast modules at appropriate intervals to avoid shortages and purchase accordingly, based on customer forecasts provided by the Customer, Customer Service or other functions.
Ensuring adequate inventory levels. Issuing Purchase Orders taking into consideration customer requirements, company requirement and projected quantities in accordance with companies Purchasing Procedures.
Working with suppliers to determine breakpoint scheduling according to information from Commercial Department.
Working with suppliers to reduce the amount of obsolete stock during engineering changes or part cancellations.
Working with Customer Service, Vendor and the customer to disposition dead/obsolete inventory.
Expand knowledge of the companies subcontractors which may include, but is not limited to, visiting the subcontractor, reading literature on the subcontractor or communication with subcontractor on a wide range of issues.
Initiate cost down projects with subcontractors.
Ensure good communication within all departments at company.
Consider each department as your own customer and suppliers to ensure the flow of information between departments is smooth and consistent. Coordinate daily inventory management PFUS meeting.
File claims with Carriers for damage or shortages caused by them and communicate this with the QA department if needed.
Issuing Purchase Order as per approved Purchase approval for office and warehouse supplies.
Negotiating freight price, Custom clearance price as needed.

College Diploma required as a minimum. Experience in the material acquisition field is needed.
Exposure to any kind of MRP system is an asset.
Motivated/Independent worker to achieve sales and divisional/corporate goals in a timely fashion is a key attribute.
Understanding that situations of our customers and be able to work with customer to resolve.
Possess excellent communication skills both written and oral.
Demonstrated ability to multi-task, handle large work volume and meet quality expectations.
Must be able to work in a team oriented environment.
