Senior Network Engineer – Routing and Switching (Telework)

Telework Position with international travel up to 55%

Responsibilities:

Kingfisher is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support SATCOM and telecommunications systems within the Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside Continental United States (OCONUS) for our confidential Customer. This position is based in Fort Meade, Maryland but has an option to be performed from any location. The Senior Network Engineer will provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) for implementation and integration of information systems and manage and guide junior engineers. Specific position responsibilities include but are not limited to the following.

  • Provide support in the translation of business requirements into telecommunications (e.g., LAN, MAN, WAN, Voice and Video) integration designs.
  • Provide interface support to telecommunications end users, telecommunications operations personnel, and telecommunications strategic program management.
  • Monitor and respond to hardware, software, and network problems.
  • Utilize software and hardware tools and identify and diagnose factors affecting network performance.
  • Troubleshoot and improve network systems.
  • Implement and integrate Customer systems and sub-systems in accordance with the system baseline by:
    • Providing System Administrator access to various telecommunication system devices to install, change, or manipulate system code/configuration files,
    • Providing access to the classified portions of the Customers fielded telecommunications system, and
    • Providing access to SIPRNET.
  • Conduct site surveys of Customer systems prior to system deployment.
  • Design/develop hardware and software solutions for integration of new capabilities.
  • Conduct Implementation Readiness Reviews.
  • Develop System Acceptance Test plans.
  • Install, implement, and integrate the telecommunication systems at Customer locations.
  • Provide training to Customer systems operations personnel on existing and newly deployed systems.
  • Conduct After Action Reviews of onsite installation, implementation, and integration tasks.
  • Draft, review, and update Operations Documents.
  • Draft, review, and update System Baseline Documents.
  • Attend technical interchange meetings and discussions concerning all system changes.
  • Analyze proposed changes to the system for performance, security, and operational impacts.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a United States Citizen.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 55% of the time.
  • Experience with DoD Major Automated Information Systems or Major Defense Acquisition Programs.
  • Experience with SATCOM systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft products including SharePoint, Excel, Visio, Word, and PowerPoint.

Required Certifications: CompTIA Security + and Cisco Certified Network Professional Routing and Switching (CCNP R&S or Enterprise).


Years of Experience: Minimum of 10 years’ experience with emphasis in network routing and switching technology.


Degree Requirement: High School Diploma or greater


Minimum Clearance Requirement: Minimum active DoD Secret clearance
