    Position Title: CT TRP Program Coach


    General Purpose
    The CT Teacher Residency Program is an alternate route to elementary certification program focused on diversifying the teaching staff across Connecticut. Under the direction of the CT TRP Managing Director of Residency, the Program Coach works with residents enrolled in the CT Teacher Residency Program and mentor teachers that they are paired with for the duration of the residency year.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

      Monitors and coaches Resident teachers throughout their residency assignment

      Guides Mentors as they work with Resident Teachers

      Creates and monitors action plans for Residents and Mentors

      Engages in conversations about Race, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

      Provides training to Residents, Mentors and District Staff

      Delivers instruction to Residents on research based strategies for teaching in the certification area of focus

      Reports mentor and resident progress to the Program Personnel

      Provides necessary reports for certification and grant applications

      Attends required professional development activities, special events, recruitment events and meetings

      Reviews and updates program materials including but not limited to newsletters, handbooks and cohort syllabi

    Qualifications

      7 Years teaching experience required;

      Coaching experience preferred;

      Elementary 305 Certification and/or Comprehensive SPED 165 Certification Required; and

      Masters Degree Required.


    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

      Exemplary communication skills

      Experience in facilitating groups and delivering instruction to adult learners in a school environment

      Experience coaching others, giving feedback and monitoring progress

      Extensive understanding of teaching and learning in PK-12 schools

      Knowledge of State initiatives and priorities in education

      Ability to work effectively with diverse populations

      Commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion practices


    Supervision

      Directly supervises Residents and coaches and supports both Residents and Mentor Teachers.

      Plans, organizes, assigns and reviews work, trains, counsels and disciplines, and appraises performance.


    Working Conditions

      Will need to travel between schools in Southern Fairfield/New Haven County area of Connecticut or as determined by the program director

      Will need to travel to statewide meetings with the TRP Team

      Salary according to the CREC EA Contract in addition to receiving the Curriculum Facilitator stipend for additional time on task
