The company owns and operates the Ekati Diamond Mine, located in Canada’s Northwest Territories. Position Overview

As a member of the Human Resources (HR) Team, the Communications Co-op Student will report to the Communications Advisor and will work Monday to Friday at the Calgary Office. The Communications Co-op Student will have the opportunity to support activities relating to SharePoint website administration, managing marketing material updates, writing and some HR related duties such as working with the compensation team. The position will begin in January 2023 with a term length of four (4) months.

This opportunity is open to post-secondary students currently enrolled in your third (3) or fourth (4) year of a Communications or Marketing program.


Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Work with the Communications team to distribute company wide communications.
  • Work on community news letters, internal communications documents, and corporate webpages.
  • Participate and provide support in a compensation review project. Updating and preparing tables for reporting.
  • Engage and participate in HR team meetings.
  • Maintaining confidential information.
  • General HR administrative duties and other tasks as assigned.

Education/Experience

  • Applicants must currently be enrolled in their 3rd or 4th year at a recognized post-secondary institution with a major in Communications or Public Relations.
  • Prior work experience obtained through an internship, coop term, or summer job will be considered an asset.
  • Experience in communications media, video creation, branding and design.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite - InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of print and digital production processes.
  • Strong computer skills with Excel and Microsoft Suite of applications.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work efficiently in a collaborative team environment.
  • Trustworthy and professional in dealing with confidential information.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to accurately analyze information and be adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Positive attitude and willing to take initiative.

Additional Information

Arctic provides travel to and from the Ekati mine site out of Calgary, Yellowknife, and other northern fly points.
