Job Description

Job Title: Temporary Delivery Driver

Job Summary

The purpose of this position is to deliver packages to and from Simply Computing’s main warehouse, Simply Computing stores, affiliate stores, and customers. This position is responsible for determining the most efficient route for each day, meeting delivery deadlines, picking up equipment from customers, and maintaining the operation of the delivery vehicle. This position also assists the warehouse in receiving, inputting, sorting, loading, and unloading of inventory and performing various warehouse maintenance activities.

Essential Functions

• Picks up and delivers packages to Simply Computing stores, affiliates, and customers.
• Determines the fastest or shortest route each day, and makes adjustments throughout the day as required.
• Ensures packages and equipment are properly secured in the delivery vehicle while in motion and while vehicle is unattended.
• Operates delivery vehicle in a safe manner according to provincial and local regulations (eg. speed limit, parking restrictions, etc.) Refills gas tank, goes to the car wash, and brings vehicle for maintenace as needed
• Maintains contact with warehouse staff and supervisor while on the road when vehicle is parked, or via handsfree device
• Acts as an ambassador of Simply Computing and its affiliates when meeting customers for deliveries or pickups.
• Has basic knowledge of the products and services we offer

Secondary Functions

· Receives stock from vendors into inventory management system, labels, and stores in appropriate locations

· Performs weekly and monthly inventory counts

· Fulfills stock transfer requests from Simply Computing or affiliate stores

· Fulfills online orders

· Packs shipments according to Simply Computing standards, and contacts couriers for pickups

· Maintains a clean, organized, and secure warehouse

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Working Conditions

The Delivery Driver works primarily at the Simply Computing warehouse in Vancouver and in the Simply Computing delivery vehicle (cargo van). The position requires operation of a two-axle vehicle, physical labour such as lifting and bending, and requires periods of driving, sitting, standing and walking. Some activities may require climbing ladders. This position also requires entering customers’ residential and business buildings to make deliveries. This position requires occasional travel to, and driving within, Vancouver Island and the Interior of BC.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

· Ability to lift up to 20 kg

· Ability to stand up to 8 hours a day

· Excellent English written and oral skills required

· Computer knowledge: Mac, Windows, Excel, email and Internet

· Ability to use an iPhone (for mapping and communications purposes)

· Confident in making decisions, able to work independently

· Extremely organized with strong attention to detail

· Time management skills, able to prioritize, capable of working under pressure

· Must be willing to consent to a criminal record check

Required Training and Experience

· High school graduation required

Required Licenses, Certificates, Registrations

· Class 5 driver’s license and a clean driving record is required at the time of application

The following to be completed within 6 weeks of employment start date. Simply Computing will reimburse exam fees for the first attempt for each tested requirement only. If exam is not passed the first time, employee is responsible for costs of re-writing exams

· Apple L1 certifications

· Apple L2 certifications

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary, Contract
Contract length: 12 months

Salary: $20.00-$22.00 per hour
