ELECTRICIAN
STATUS: Full Time, Union
CORE DUTIES: Reporting to the General Manager
Responsible for the lay out, assembly, installation, test and repair of electrical wiring, light fixtures, control devices and related equipment in buildings and other structures as required in new electrical components and existing electrical infrastructure.
MAIN DUTIES
- Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications.
- Analyze and correct electrical problems, repair and overhaul electrical equipment and controls.
- Troubleshoot and isolate faults in electrical and electronic systems; remove and replace faulty parts.
- Perform emergency and scheduled repairs, installation and electrical inspection work as instructed through the General Manager.
- Troubleshoot and program PLC’s.
- Service electronic equipment by checking, testing, and replacing faulty components, circuits, printed circuit boards, and similar electronic devices.
- Install, replace and repair lighting fixtures, communication cables, electrical control and distribution equipment, and splices pieces when required.
- Connect electrical power to visual/sound communication equipment, signalling devices and minor maintenance to heating and cooling systems and boiler systems.
- Perform general repairs such as repairing broken locks, etc.
- Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment.
- Perform electrical, painting, mechanical and plubing maintenance and small repairs.
- Notify all staff of potentially dangerous electrical equipment; record all problems and take corrective action.
- Adheres to all Ministry of Labour (MOL) legislation in start up and shut down of equipment for machine activation, safety regulations and procedures. Comply with all Company safety policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
- This employee will regularly work in outside weather conditions; will work near moving mechanical parts in occasional precarious places.
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, ambient air, temperature extremes, fumes or airborne particles, traffic, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but occasionally high.
- At times will work in confined work spaces.
QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES)

Education and Experience
- Valid 309A Electrician License (Ontario).
- Three plus years experience with electronic and computer controlled equipment.
Professional Qualities
- Excellent communication skills; high proficiency in English (written and verbal).
- Effectively manage tasks and deadlines.
- Detail orientated.
Computer Skills
- Knowledge of IT network communications and systems, PLC’s, preferred.
- Knowledge of computer proficiency, especially as to Microsoft Excel and Word.
Physical Demands and Other Qualifications
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, overhead structures.
- Ability to work an eight hour shift.
- Ability to work various shifts (days, afternoons and midnights).
- Ability to work in high voltage areas.
- Ability to adhere to all safety regulations associated with this position.
- The employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit.
- Ability to pass a Police Clearance.
- Ability to obtain a driver’s abstract.
- Valid Ontario driver’s license.
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $70,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
