Finance Assistant

POSITION: Finance Assistant

SALARY: $24.00 per hour

HOURS OF WORK: 35 hours per week

STATUS: Permanent - Full-Time

LOCATION: 9010 West Saanich Rd, North Saanich B.C.

Summary: Pauquachin First Nation seeks a highly motivated individual with a strong eye for detail to fill the position of Accounting Clark (Finance Assistant).

Reports to: Reports to the Band Manager on all aspects of accounts payable duties.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Receipt complete purchase orders upon receiving invoices and organizing invoices for next accounts payable processing.
  • Records approved expenses to accounts and departments by analyzing invoice/expense reports, recording entries into financial software.
  • Processing all expense claim forms and requests for payments.
  • Maintains vendor relations (discussing account activities, identifying discounts etc.)
  • Schedules and prepares cheque runs on a weekly basis.
  • Prepare bank, general ledger, clearing accounts and credit card statement reconciliation
  • Receives and verifies cash, cheques, credit card payments and prepare bank deposits.
  • Carrying out general administration duties such as setting up new supplier accounts, updating bank details and scanning invoices
  • Generate report from the system for the departments and projects.
  • Verifies vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.
  • Tracking expenses by approved operating budget, identifying, and collating any expenses requiring further management review and or clarification.
  • Maintains accounts payable listings and reconciles accounts payable subledger to the general ledger monthly.
  • Maintenance of vendor files and records (regular filing duties)
  • Disburses petty cash by recording entry and verifying documentation.
  • Other accounting related duties as required.

Qualifications / Skills:

  • Proficient in Adagio Accounting software/willingness to learn
  • Highly organized with an attentive eye to detail.
  • Computer and Data entry skills and proficiency.
  • Must communicate in a professional manner
  • Effective interpersonal relations and ability to work within a team environment
  • Must provide a clean a criminal record check

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field a plus
  • Previous accounts payable experience necessary
