Air Wise Sales Inc. is one of the leading manufacturers of custom air handling units in North America. With two production facilities, one located in Dundas, ON and the second in Nisku, AB; AWSI is strategically positioned to ship our products across North America.

We are now preparing to open a third production facility in Kingston, ON. This position will start at the Kingston facility on January 3, 2023. Prior to this, the incumbent must be available to complete a training period of 2-3 weeks, starting early December. This will include the requirement to travel to the main facility in Dundas, ON.

In this role as an HVAC Fabricator, you will be required to learn, understand, and apply all Air Wise policies and procedures to help manufacture the highest quality products in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will routinely perform your duties with minimal supervision, independently and in a team with other assemblers and operators. You must be able to work in an environment with many distractions, maintaining a high level of accuracy and safety, while performing your duties.

The schedule for this position is Monday to Friday 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

Incumbents will be cross-training for Foam Injection, Shear, Brake Press, and CNC Laser Cutting machines used in the fabrication process.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Read and understand blueprints and assembly drawings
  • Develop a basic knowledge of commercial and industrial HVAC equipment
  • Use a variety of measuring instruments including tape measures, squares, and levels
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools including tin snips, screw guns, drills, and grinders
  • Use a MIG welder for tacking and stitch welding
  • Use a variety of fabrication equipment (shear, brake press, notch machine, etc.)
  • Assemble air handler equipment base frames, wall panels, cabinet, and internal components
  • Operate material handling equipment including forklift, crane, and pump cart
  • Maintain shop and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized manner
  • Work efficiently, effectively, and safely
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Education:

  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent

2-3 years’ experience in a manufacturing or construction environment

  • Experience in a lead hand or supervisory capacity an asset
  • Experience working on HVAC equipment an asset
  • Basic knowledge of assembly/manufacturing equipment and processes
  • Knowledge of fabrication equipment (shear, brake press, cut to length line, notch machine, etc.)
  • Experience with sheet metal and metal fabrication processes
  • Physically capable; able to lift heavy parts (50lbs), stand for extended periods of time, and twist, bend and reach unrestricted
  • Ability to work in a team or group environment and independently with minimal instruction
  • Basic math, reading, and computer skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and short deadlines
  • Experience with industrial painting is an asset
