Job Description: Junior Mechanical Engineer / Mechanical Engineer
Overall responsibility:
- Design, develop, and evaluate new and existing products.
- Perform operational tests on food service appliances to optimize energy efficiency, operational performance, and life expectancy of machines, parts and design variations.
- Collect, analyze and present performance data.
- Design and maintain complex parts, assemblies and drawings using Solidworks®, per direction.
- Collaborate with engineering and product design team on concepts, ideas and evaluations.
- Perform field evaluations of appliance use, including operator habits and perception.
- Actively participate in on-site evaluation of machinery – including repairs.
- Review electrical schematics and third-party testing standards (UL or ETL Safety and Sanitation).
- Collaborate with and assist personnel from throughout the company in troubleshooting and/or product customization projects.
- Create and maintain product documentation (e.g., manuals, spec sheets, etc.).
- Collaborate with manufacturing and component suppliers both domestically and in China
- Other related duties as requested.
Reports to: Engineering Manager
Qualification Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience with sheet metal design, fabrication and assembly preferred.
- Must hold valid Washington State driver’s license and legally sufficient auto insurance.
- Must obtain US passport within 90 days of employment.
- Must have the ability to obtain foreign travel visas as necessary.
- Limited domestic and international travel will be required. Must have the ability and willingness to travel via air, auto, and all other modes of transportation typically used in commerce.
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to take ownership of projects.
Skills Requirements:
- Basic electrical systems and alternating current theory.
- Advanced understanding of physics and mathematics employed in physics.
- Proficiency in MS office programs (Word, Excel).
- Proficiency in creating parts, assemblies and drawings in Solidworks or other design software.
- Proficiency in Adobe products is preferred (In-Design, Acrobat)
Physical Requirements:
- Use of hand tools and meters.
- Operation of food service appliances.
- Occasional evaluation of equipment and construction of prototypes at varying heights, sometimes requiring the use of a ladder, movement along the floor, and other physically demanding positions.
- Occasional lifting of equipment and parts weighing 50 lbs.
Salary: DOE
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $58,171.24 - $75,000.00 per year
