Machine Builder
Givens Machine Systems is a manufacturer of assembly machines, automated equipment, fastening systems, and special purpose machinery on Veterans Parkway in London. We share our London building with our parent company, Givens Engineering.
We're looking for an experienced machine builder to assemble our equipment. This equipment is normally controlled with PLCs, pneumatics and hydraulics. Our electricians would handle the electrical portion of the project but it would be up to you to assemble the machine itself, along with the hydraulic and pneumatic portions.
You would be making sure the machinists, welders, painters and such are completing your parts of the machine in a timely manner as well as working with the shop foreman to make sure things get done. The machinery can range from simple to extremely complex, and you would be encouraged to work your way up.
We value a long-term relationship that will continue for years, starting with extensive training and gradually working toward increasingly challenging projects.
Work is usually straight days with weekends off, but weekend work and overtime occur frequently. Because our workload varies constantly, overloads are handled with overtime. Sometimes you would also be expected to install the equipment you build, which often happens on weekends and usually involves travel within Ontario.
Health and Dental Benefits package is available after 3 months; a pension plan begins after 1 year.
We manufacture everything we sell right here in our large London shop. We employ engineers, technologists, welders, electricians, machinists and accounting and sales staff.
- Experience with building machines is critical
- Ability to understand drawings would be essential
- Ability to lift approximately 50 pounds would be helpful
- When assembling machinery, you would take charge of keeping track of the flow of parts through the shop
