Payroll Assistant III (Garnishments)

This role sits out of Irving, TX and will offer part time telework.

Roles and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Load and validate Garnishments
  • Perform research on demand
  • Strong Customer Service
  • Sector POC support
  • Resolve audit findings each payroll processing
  • Resolve basic payroll inquiries based on training and documentation support, i.e.: KB Articles, processing documentation, payroll calendar & schedules
  • Perform basic quality audits
  • Respond to inquiries from customers within SLA (Service Level Agreement)
  • Basic Ad hoc query request
  • Mail Handling
  • Data Entry
  • Check and Notice Tracking
  • Pay Statement Print Request
  • W-2 Reprint Request
  • Assist with creating scenario-based audit reports
  • Assist as needed to ensure accurate and timely reconciliation of garnishment accounts
  • Collects and maintains electronic files for all garnishment withholding orders
  • Special projects as assigned


Basic Qualifications - to be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills and abilities listed below:

  • High school diploma & 4 years of related education, i.e. business or accounting and/or relevant work experience
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft office suite (excel, word, and PowerPoint) (Basic, intermediate, advanced)
  • Payroll processing experience including relevant regulatory requirements; internal policy and procedure; accounting practices; system software requirements
  • Knowledge of FLSA, federal, state laws, etc.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Must possess a strong characteristic for attention to detail and accuracy
  • Problem-solving; organizing and prioritizing work demands in order to meet critical deadlines
  • Perform basic payroll calculations
  • Operating a personal computer including standard software and some specialized accounting software
  • Must be able to work well in a team environment
  • Fundamentals of Payroll Certification [1 year completion requirement from hire date]

Preferred Qualifications - candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

  • SAP/Workday/ADP experience
  • Prior experience working in a shared service or center of excellence environment


Salary Range: $45,400 USD - $75,600 USD


Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
