Temporary Part-Time Position (October 2022 to approximately April 2023)

Located on the coast of beautiful Georgian Bay, our facility offers the best that both nature and technology can offer. We work in one of Canada’s most modern health care facilities and live in one of Canada’s top outdoor adventure destinations.

The Personal Support Worker (PSW) assists and supports the Nursing Department and members of the multi-disciplinary team. The PSW provides support in activities of daily living for patients for whom the outcomes are predictable and assists nursing staff in the transfer and positioning of patients with more complex needs. The PSW provides patient care within the policies and procedures of the Health Centre under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and Registered Practical Nurse.

The hours of work will be all shifts, including weekends.

Basic Requirements

• Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent;
• Successful completion of a Health Care Aide Certification Program or Personal Support Worker Program from a recognized college;
• A minimum of one (1) year previous related experience within the past three (3) years;
• Demonstrated excellent verbal communication skills;
• Demonstrated ability to facilitate positive relationships;
• Demonstrated satisfactory attendance levels, work performance, disciplinary history, and positive work references;
• Demonstrated knowledge of various computer applications and software related to healthcare programs;
• Ability to work in a manner that exemplifies the core values of the West Parry Sound Health Centre: Compassion, Accountability, Rights and Responsibilities, Excellence, and Safety.

Preferred Qualifications

• Courses in Behaviour Approach (such as GPA or restorative).

Compensation & Benefits
$21.40 per hour to start+ Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)
+ 4% vacation pay and 13% pay in lieu of fringe benefits (9% if enrolled in HOOPP)
