This position can be located in one of the following Ministry Office locations, subject to operational requirements and space availability at time of offer: Cranbrook, Fort St John, Kamloops, Nanaimo, Nelson, Penticton, Prince George, Smithers, Surrey, Victoria, Williams Lake.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies in the above locations.

The Climate Action Secretariat (CAS), as a division of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy, is responsible for leading and coordinating research, analysis, development and implementation of programs, strategies, policies, and legislation that enable the mitigation of, and adaptation to, climate change, while supporting competitiveness and the development of a sustainable economy.
The Senior Policy Analyst coordinates and leads the research, analysis, development, review and implementation of strategic policies and legislation related to the provinces climate action strategies. This position will work on built environment and transportation components of the province’s climate action strategy and will focus on the role of renewable natural gas (RNG) in decarbonizing these sectors.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
To be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the following:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Environmental Management, Applied Science, Resource Management or Natural Sciences with a minimum of 3 years of related experience; or,
- Master’s Degree in Engineering, Applied Science, Science, Resource Management or a related professional field or equivalent, with a minimum of 1 year of related experience.
- Related Experience must be in policy development in one or more of the following areas:
- the role of renewable natural gas and hydrogen in the built environment and transportation sectors;
- resource management and environmental protection; and/or,
- sustainable energy management.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in the development of legislation, regulation and/or policy.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in planning and coordinating complex projects/assignments.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in concisely and persuasively writing a range of documents/content.
