POSITION SUMMARY:

To ensure that patients are assessed regarding adaptive and leisure skills; to serve as a member of the interdisciplinary team supporting the organization’s treatment program and philosophy; To provide a variety of therapeutic activities using a variety of modalities to promote knowledge, skills and attitudes that promote improved functioning.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Training:

“Minimum requirement is a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation or a related field, Master’s Degree in Art or Music Therapy, Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy.”

Licensure/Certification: add “If an Occupational Therapist, maintains North Carolina License” and “If a Yoga Instructor, maintains instructor certification.”

Experience:

· Minimum of two years’ experience leading therapeutic activities in a psychiatric or rehabilitation setting.

Licensure/Certification:

· If a recreation therapist, maintains North Carolina License and National Certification as a recreation therapist.

· If an art, music, dance therapist, it is preferred that he/she is working toward certification in the field of specialty or as an LPC

· Current North Carolina Driver’s License

· Current CPR Certification

· CPI Certification

Knowledge and Skills:

· Practical knowledge of the scope of adjunctive therapy assessment and techniques.

· Demonstrated skill in assessment and treatment in adjunctive therapy for which holds specialization.

· Ability to document quickly, clearly, and concisely.

· Communication skills necessary to communicate to patients, team members, family members, and agencies.
