Our client, a not-for-profit community based mental health center serving children and families from birth through the end of the golden years, is seeking a Risk Manager & Safety Officer & Contract Compliance Officer for their office in Gardena, California.
This position is under the supervision of and reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer. The Risk Manager plans, organizes, and directs the agency’s risk management program, employee health and welfare, and employee and client safety programs. This position participates in the quality improvement activities of the agency providing knowledge and insight into matters of risk prevention and safety management. The Risk Manager also examines the use of realistic and cost-effective opportunities to balance retention programs, prepare insurance budgets and allocate claim costs and premiums, identify, and analyse the financial impact of loss to the organization.

· To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed must be representative of the knowledge, skills, minimum education, training, licensure, experience, and/or ability required. Contract compliance Officer responsibility in this position is for streamlining the creation, negotiation, execution, compliance, storage, and renewals across all departments within an organization, and are often reliant on contract management software to facilitate the process.
Credential Required:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management, Public Administration or a related business or managerial field, or equivalent combination of education and experiences preferred. Completion of courses in safety engineering, insurance, investigations, interviewing and/or contract law or experience is desirable.
· Two years’ experience managing risk prevention and management operations and/or other related fields.
· Knowledge of Risk Management and Cal OSHA laws, rules and regulations.
· Familiar with standards, practices, and procedures within the company.
· Possess of a valid Class C or higher driver’s license and insurability by the agency insurance carrier. An acceptable alternate means of transportation necessary to the completion of one’s duties may be considered.
Physical Demands:
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly operates a computer
and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
Communicates with others in the office environment and outside the office including third party vendors and/or stakeholders. The employee frequently moves about inside the office and access files, cabinets, and other office machinery.
· Person in this position may occasionally move equipment and/or stacks of documents weighing up to 5 lbs.
Work Environment:
· This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
· Position may also include risk prevention and handling safety issues and/or emergencies.
Duties and Responsibilities
Key Tasks:
1. Administers risk prevention and management functions of the agency.
2. Maintains understanding and ability to accurately interpret laws, rules and regulations pertaining to risk management and Cal OSHA; laws and regulations of fire, health and safety codes.
3. Coordinates and supervises an effective risk management and loss prevention program.
4. Investigates and analyses accidents or incidents involving agency employees and clients injured while using agency equipment or facilities.
5. Analyses the agency’s claim, loss and accident history and identified methods to eliminate, minimize or indemnify risk or possible losses.
6. Investigates and analyses potential illegal and/or unethical activities or practices.
7. Handle Workers Compensation claims
8. Maintain files or insurable valuable and record losses, loss rations, and loss reserves.
9. Assists with the development and implementation of new and revised policies and procedures.
10. Represents the agency in quasi-judicial hearings.
11. Promotes public relations for the agency by directing programs to maintain community support.
12. Participate in the development of current and long-term goals and objectives in the area of risk prevention and managements and develops/maintains the Risk Management Plan for agency.
13. Analyses complex problems and develops effective and efficient alternative solutions.
14. Communicates effectively both orally and in writing.
15. Performs other duties as required or assigned.
16. Administersrisk prevention, infection prevention & control, health and safety programs.
17. Manages and reviews independent contractors and volunteers’ contracts
18. Manage agency’s vehicle fleet.
Additional/Support Tasks: Assist CEO with special assignments as needed.
