Job Summary

Dominion Energy's Information Technology department seeks a Network position to support the enterprise with network devices, network architecture, and network communications security. Primary focus is Data Center networking, Enterprise WAN and Cloud connectivity efforts.

The successful candidate will be able to provide the support noted below in accordance with standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements:

  • Support enterprise managed network device configurations (e.g. network switches and routers) and architectures in a high availability environment and support associated network communications, implementations and modifications.
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for networking issues and manage, configure, install, troubleshoot, and provide oversight for network devices and network services associated with Data Center Networks, WAN connectivity, Cloud connectivity networks, and associated communication interfaces.
  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including replacement, service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations.
  • Architect and implement network designs across the enterprise.
  • Provide network engineering expertise in the disciplines of core routing, core switching, network security, network diagnostics, and load balancing.
  • Monitor regulatory requirements, industry trends, and potential impacts to enterprise networks. Monitor system performance, connectivity, and resource utilization.
  • Provide change management review and approvals. Follow change management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.
  • Act as a mentor to other staff members to broaden network knowledge and technical expertise across the team.
  • Ensure system drawings and documentation are revised as needed.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Senior Network Analyst - 5+ years' experience or
Network Specialist - 7+ years' experience in networking.

  • Strong engineering and operational skills in Enterprise routing and switching environments
  • Deep understanding of network routing protocols: EIGRP, BGP, MPLS, QOS, STP, DHCP, SNMP, TCP, UDP
  • Must have experience with network break/fix of layer 2 and 3 environments
  • Cisco Nexus platform experience
  • Must be able to Mentor less experienced team members

Skills not required but considered a plus:

  • Cisco SDWAN, MPLS, Cisco ACI, Cisco ISE, Wireless
  • F5 load balancing, Infoblox, SolarWinds (NPM, NCM), Firewalls (PA, Fortinet, ASA)
  • Cloud-based connectivity (AWS, Azure)
  • RoIP, Multicast, Voice over WLAN,
  • Packet decoding technology
  • Experience working in environment subject to regulatory compliance
  • Experience with supporting an enterprise network at a Utility company

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelor's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Math or Business or technical equivalent.
