BasisPath is seeking a Software Engineering Intern to join our team in Northern Virginia.

The BasisPath Internship Program is an opportunity for you to gain real-world experience and skills in software development. Our goal is to give you a fully immersive experience by having you participate and contribute to BasisPath's system and software engineering projects. With our team's extensive background in providing IT services to government entities, you will learn through practice how typical government contracting programs are executed and get a jump start into the industry.

As a software engineering intern, you will take part in all aspects of the agile development lifecycle and receive maximum exposure to various types of software engineering roles. We will teach you the foundational skills for full-stack software development, DevOps, cloud technologies, and more. You will collaborate with other developers to build performant, secure, testable, and maintainable code, and solutions. At BasisPath, your technical skills are just as important to us as your soft skills so we want to help you become an effective and contributing team member.

  • JavaScript ES6+, TypeScript, ReactJS, Node.js
  • Web applications and RESTful services
  • HTML, CSS, SASS/LESS
  • Unit Testing (Jest, Mocha, Jasmine)
  • NoSQL databases
  • Cloud platforms (Amazon Web Services, Azure)
  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
  • Git and GitLab
  • DevOps and continuous integration
  • Docker and containerization
  • Web security and authentication (OAuth)
  • Agile Development, SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework), Scrum

General Information:

  • Fixed hybrid work model where you work most of the week at home with 1 day in the office (Northern VA)
  • $20 per hour; 40 hours a week
  • 8-week internship starting in June

Basic Qualifications:

  • US citizen with the ability to obtain a government security clearance
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be able to commute to the office in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area
  • Passion for creative problem-solving and learning new technologies
  • Interested in pursuing a software engineering career
  • Ability to work from home and comfortable with video conferencing and virtual collaboration

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in an accredited college or university, pursuing a degree in a technical field
  • GPA 3.0 or higher
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working on teams
  • Experience programming (any language!)
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle and modern practices
